EVOC excels yet again: The brand’s BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO was presented with the Red Dot Award 2015 for its high design quality and innovative strength in the latest competition. Following the awards for the FR PRO TEAM (2011), CP 26l (2013) and PROTECTOR JACKET (2014), this prize marks EVOC’s fourth precision landing. The Red Dot award is an internationally acknowledged quality certification for product design.
Not only does EVOC have a reason to party, but the award itself turns 60 this year. In the latest competition, the international expert jury discussed and evaluated 4928 entries from 56 countries. The jury is the heart of the Red Dot award – their expertise is a guarantee of the high level of quality of the competition and as a result, the significance of the distinctive red dot. This point definitely goes to EVOC. Thank you!
In 2008, we introduced our first BIKE TRAVEL BAG – and revolutionized travelling by bike. For the 2015 season, we are launching the newly developed BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO, the lightest bike travel bag on the market. Next-level bike travel, so to speak. Thanks to a number of innovations, this second-generation bike bag is not only lighter and sturdier but also more comfortable than our top seller. The product requirements to our development team were clear: The new BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO had to be even lighter, sturdier and more comfortable. Not a simple task. This is one of the main reasons we developed our tried and tested design further. The new bike travel bag also turned out to be a hybrid solution, combining the benefits of a hardtop case with those of a soft storage bag – for maximum protection and even lower weight. We focused on the development of signature frame components. And, as a result, the new BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO offers a series of technical innovations. So here goes:

So ist auch die neue Radreisetasche eine Hybridlösung: Sie vereint die Vorteile eines Hartschalenkoffers mit denen einer soften Packtasche und bietet maximalen Schutz bei nochmals minimiertem Gewicht. Im Fokus: die Entwicklung eigener Rahmenteile. Dementsprechend wartet die neue BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO mit einigen technischen Neuerungen auf. Los geht’s:
MONOQUOCE WHEEL CHASSIS – that’s the new wide chassis. Moulded in one piece, this chassis offers superior no-tilt characteristics while guaranteeing an extremely comfortable rolling behaviour thanks to new, smooth-running, noiseless wheels. Two aluminium rods – ALUMINIUM SIDE RAILS – stretch along the entire base length of the bag, as an extension of the chassis. They add extra stability to the BIKE TRAVEL BAG PROand protect the new, lightweight and yet sturdy MOULDED BOTTOM CASE, an EVA base plate that has been formed from a single piece. As a result, bikes are always on solid ground while on the road. The base construction now only contains three components and provides the foundation of the new BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO.
In addition, the bag boasts a new handle design – the ALUMINIUM FRONT HANDLE SYSTEM. It’s lightweight, rests comfortably in the hand and offers excellent rolling comfort. Numerous additional handles on all sides facilitate loading of the bag. And, to make travelling even slightly more comfortable in true EVOC style, we have developed a little extra feature for when the bag is fully packed and consequently extremely heavy: The CLIP-ON WHEEL, which is simply clipped onto the ALUMINIUM FRONT HANDLE SYSTEM to make the bag stand on three wheels in no time at all. Please note: When travelling by plane you will have to remove the third wheel since it could get damaged or lost. We have also integrated another innovation: The DISK PROTECTION, an EVA padding that’s been shaped to protect – as the name implies – the disks. The BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO includes a ROAD BIKE ADAPTER for secure transport of racing bikes, as well as the FRAME PAD for reliable frame protection.
Besides all this you can look forward to all the classic EVOC features: The bag is set up using fibre-glass reinforced plastic rods (stabilizers) and two plastic rods in each wheel compartment. By embedding the stabilizers directly in the base unit we have enhanced both the bag’s torsional stiffness and its impact resistance. The upright position of the frame in the bag means that the robust parts of the bike (saddle, seat post and rear end as well as the front end, head tube and fork) are used to actively absorb pressure. Sensitive areas, on the other hand, are reliably protected by means of practical reinforcements and padding. Convenience comes with the rods and tubes being removable so that the BIKE TRAVEL BAG PRO can be folded to a height of only 30 centimetres for storage.

FR SKID: SMALL PROTECTOR BACKPACK IN GREAT SHAPE
FR SKID Our first product for powder enthusiasts was a protector backpack, and initially this generated quite a few smirks. Today, protector backpacks have become indispensable in the backcountry. The German based company Evoc really broke into the US market with their hugely popular Bike Travel Bag. It was an awesome option when you needed to travel with your bike. Evoc’s design allowed you to leave most the bike intact, and the travel bag offered solutions to many of the common problems with traveling with your bike.
Evoc has just released an updated version to their Bike Travel Bag and the changes are looking really awesome! The number one struggle for traveling with your bike is weight. Airlines are sticklers about over weight bags and this can really cost you a lot. The new Bike Travel Bag weights less and is more stable! There is now aluminum slide rails running the full length of the bottom of the bag which gives the bag a lot more stability when it is fully loaded. Pairing that with the Monocoque Wheel Chassis and aluminum front handle, moving your bike becomes much easier. Additionally you can clip on a front wheel to the aluminum handle, allowing for full rolling capabilities.
You couldn’t talk about the new Bike Travel Bag without pointing out some of the new protection features. The built in wheel slots now offer even more protection for your rotors, freeing up valuable breakdown and build up times. Another awesome change is the molded bottom case which use to be made from foam and was likely to have damage over time. As is customary for EVOC, the STAGE 12l incorporate a wide range of sophisticated technical features. Both have a tool compartment with separate quick access. An embossed emergency plan provides emergency steps and the most important phone numbers. A separate compartment offers space for a hydration system of up to three litres in capacity. There is also space for your sunglasses/goggles and other small necessities. But that’s enough about pockets and compartments. The packs also offer individual attachment solutions for full-face and cross-country helmets as well as for protectors. Unobtrusive markings provide instructions. Convenient: The rain cover forms part of the features and can be pulled over the backpack in one simple step.

LUNA Chix MTB team on the move with EVOC April 30 2014, 0 Comments
The MTB race season is now in full swing for the LUNA Chix Pro Women's MTB race team. With Sea Otter, Round 1 of the World Cup, and Whiskey Off Road now in the rear view mirror the team has had the opportunity to put their EVOC luggage through the paces. Just like the team itself - the results are good.
This past weekend Georgia Gould represented in Cairns Australia with a strong 11th place finish in the world cup. A world away in the Mountains of Arizona Katerina Nash landed on the podium in 4th place of the Whiskey Off Road in Prescott, Arizona.
In June the LUNA Chix team will be racing in Colorado Springs, the home of EVOC USA. We look forward to hosting the team in our town and our trails for the PRO XCT Race at Pulpit Rock.

How to Survive Flying With a Bike March 26 2013, 0 Comments
Tired of winter? Spring is on the way. One of the most important things you can do is to make sure that your gear is in order. With the EVOC Bike Travel Bag, your bikes will travel first class—whether by airplane, train or car. The Bike Travel Bag packs securely in just a few minutes and can be easily transported thanks to the large wheels on the bottom of the case. Here are a few tips that we thought we'd share with folks looking to fly with their bikes:
Check Prices Before You Arrive at the Airport
Prices and Baggage Allowance
Virtually all airlines have different prices for sports equipment and bulky luggage, which can range from $40 to $200 or more! If possible, you'll want to check with the airline before you begin your trip–and also to see what their baggage allowance is for domestic and international flights (they can be different).
If you've booked with an airline will allow you to check the bike as part of your luggage allowance, you might try and haggle with them to see if they'll waive the additional fees that they sometimes impose on bikes (if they allow passengers to check golf-clubs for free, this might be your ace-in-the-hole as the weights are very similar between a complete racing bike and a full set of golf clubs). Make sure you get as much information as you can for checking the bike on the return trip as well.
Travel and Bicycle Insurance
You'll definitely want to check with the airline to see what their maximum liability is for damage when it comes to bicycles specfically. Many times their liability caps at around $1000. Don't risk it! If there's any doubt, you may be able to contact your own insurance company to purchase additional coverage that will protect you from loss, theft or damage to your machine while traveling.
Secondary Transportation
When booking rental cars and taxis as secondary transportation when you reach your destination, make sure that you specifiy that you need a larger vehicle to accommodate your luggage and your bike travel bag as well.
Packing the Bike
The sophisticated of EVOC's Bike Travel Bag mean that it's not necessary to disassemble the components of the bike to fit it in the case, or to cushion it for travel. Simply remove the wheels from your bicycle, release some air from your tires/tubes and stow them the specially-designed exterior wheel pockets. Unscrew the handlebar and attach it to the inside of the bag with the included hook-and-look straps. Remove the pedals remove and place them in the small internal pocket. Check the position of the frame in the bag, making sure that the rear derailleur swings freely. For extra protection, it is recommended that you place extra available cushions (included) to absorb shock and keep the handlebars separate from the frame. Depending on the geometry of the frame and the size of the wheels, the contact points of the individual components may be different.
Tip: In addition to shoes, helmet and bike clothing, the EVOC Bike Travel Bag has enough space to accommodate the tools that you'll need to reassemble your bicycle. Don't risk trying to carry on tools, the TSA agents may confiscate them when you're going through security.
